15 Days Uganda Wildlife Primates Safari

Prepare for an unforgettable 15 Days journey in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. This trip on a Uganda safari will take us through some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery, vibrant communities, and unforgettable wildlife experiences. From such places as iconic national parks to off-the-beaten-path gems, enjoy game drives, hikes to find primates, breathtaking scenery, and cultural experiences along the way. It is worth it to travel, even if for a few reasons, to expand our memories of natural history.

From the open savanna of Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks to the misty montane forests of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Kibale National Park, you’ll see lions, elephants, and hippos in the former and endangered mountain gorilla and playful chimpanzee in their natural habitat in the latter. An amazing experience for wildlife enthusiasts.

Along the way, you’ll have thrilling boat cruises, game drives, guided nature walks, and community visits to broaden your experiences and deepen your understanding of Uganda’s unique ecosystems and traditions. Standing at the foot of the thunderous Murchison Falls or cruising along the Kazinga Channel, one day will be just as exciting as the last.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport and transfer to a hotel in Kampala

A guide will meet you at Entebbe Airport and transfer you to a hotel in Kampala after being briefed about the safari. You will check into a hotel, have dinner and retire to bed.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will have breakfast at the hotel in Kampala, and then you will set off to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. You will have lunch in Masindi town and then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving in the evening for dinner and your night’s rest at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning game drive and a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls

You will be served breakfast, and then you will have a morning game drive that will last about 4 hours to spot a variety of animals, landscapes and birds. You will return to the lodge after the morning game drive, and you will be served lunch.

After lunch, you will have a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls. You will then go to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 4:  Chimpanzee trekking and a hike to the top of the falls

You will have breakfast, and then you will have a briefing session at the park headquarters. You will then conduct a chimpanzee trek in Budongo Forest. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees and then return to the lodge for lunch

In the evening, you will go for a hike to the top of the falls, and then you will return to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge. The guide will then transfer you to Kibale National Park. You will have an enroute lunch and then arrive at Kibale National Park in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and a Bigodi swamp walk

You will have breakfast and then go for chimpanzee trekking after the briefing. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees after locating where they are. You will return to the lodge for lunch, and after relaxation, you will go for a Bigodi swamp walk.

You will spot several primates and birds while on the Bigodi swamp walk, and then you will return to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will have breakfast and then check out of the lodge. The guide will then drive you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, and upon arrival, you will check into a lodge and have lunch. You will spend the afternoon at leisure, and then you will have dinner in the evening and retire.

Day 8: Morning game drive and a boat cruise

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, and it will take you about 3 to 4 hours. You will meet the lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and many more

You will return to the lodge for lunch, and then you will go for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. You will spot the hippos, crocodiles and many more, and the boat cruise will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will then go back to the lodge for relaxing, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking and a night game drive

After an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking, and then you will head to Kyambura Gorge for the trek. You will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees and then go back to the lodge for lunch.

You will go for a briefing in the evening, and then you will go for a night game drive in the Mweya peninsula, which will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will spot numerous nocturnal animals, and then you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have breakfast and then check out of the lodge. The guide will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will check into a lodge for lunch, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 11: Gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector and a Batwa cultural experience

After having breakfast in the morning, you will be briefed at the park headquarters, and then you will go for gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector. You will meet the gorillas in their natural habitat and spend 1 hour with them. After careful observation of how they behave, you will take pictures of them, and then you will head back to the lodge for lunch.

After having lunch, you will go for a Batwa cultural experience where you will learn about the culture and traditions of the Batwa people. You will then head back to the lodge for dinner and your night’s rest.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking in Nkuringo sector

After having breakfast, you will be given a packed lunch at the lodge, and then you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then set off to the Nkuringo sector for gorilla trekking with an armed ranger guide. You will spend about 30 minutes to 7 hours searching for them, and then you will have only one hour to spend with them. After the gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for some rest, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After having breakfast at the lodge, you will check out of the lodge and you will be transferred to Lake Mburo National Park, where you will be provided with lunch, dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 14: Morning game drive and a boat cruise

You will conduct a morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park after an early morning breakfast. This game drive will reward you with views of the wildlife in this park, and it will last for approximately 4 hours. You will go back to the lodge for lunch after the game drive.

You will conduct a boat cruise at Lake Mburo that will last for about 2 hours, and you will spot hippos and crocodiles. You will go back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 15: Depart for Entebbe Airport

After an early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, and you will be transferred by the guide to Entebbe Airport.
