Day 1 : Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Akagera National Park for a night game drive
On day 1 of the 2 days safari, you will link up with a representative guide from Kapo Tours and you get to interact of which after he will transfer you from Kigali airport to Kigali genocide memorial for a city tour. You will have an encounter with the guides at this place who will give you the history about Rwanda that is preserved at Kigali genocide memorial. You will be taught about what transpired in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and other historical details of Rwanda. You will also get to see the remains of those that participated in the genocide. This place was set in memory of the 1994 Rwanda genocide and it has information about the 1994 genocide events.
Before you proceed to Akagera National Park, you will have lunch at a hotel in Kigali where you will set off from to head to Akagera National Park. You will get an accommodation of your choice once you arrive at Akagera National Park and you will settle in. You will relax from your journey as you prepare for a night game drive

In the evening, you will be transferred by a guide to the park headquarters for briefing. After briefing, you will embark on the game drive which will start around 6:30 pm and it will take about 2 to 3 hours. In the night game drives in Akagera National Park, you get the chance to spot a number of nocturnal animals and these animals include the lions, serval cats, impalas, bush pigs, buffaloes, bushbucks, leopards, hyenas, civets, nightjars, mongoose and many more. The night game drives are conducted in the southern part of Akagera National Park. The night drive offers visitors with a lot of wonderful experiences as they see the animals retire to their habitats.
After the night game drive that will end at around 830pm, you will be transferred to the lodge where you will be given supper before you retire to best for an overnight rest.
Day 2 : Morning game drive and a boat cruise and transfer to Kigali airport
On day 2 of the safari, you will wake up as early as possible and you have breakfast. After breakfast, a guide will come at the lodge where you slept and transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing. You will be given the guidelines to abide by as you conduct a game drive in Akagera National Park. You will proceed with a ranger guide on a drive in Akagera National Park. This drive will take about 5 hours and in this period, you will see a variety of wildlife in Akagera National Park. Akagera National Park is the only national park in Rwanda that harbors all the big five animals and these animals include the lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes. As these animals rise from their natural habitats in the morning, you will be able to spot a number of them. The morning game drive rewards you with the opportunity to see animals in big numbers since they are always on the hunt for breakfast.
After exploring the park on a game drive, you will head to the lodge for a lunch meal and relax. After some time of relaxation, a guide will come for you at the lodge and you head to the headquarters of Akagera National Park for briefing before you engage in a boat cruise.
This boat cruise will be done in the late afternoon at 3pm. You will have a drive at lake Ihema which will take about 1 hour and in this one hour, you will be able to spot animals taking water along this lake. You will also encounter other animal species that reside in this waterbody like the crocodiles and hippopotamus. There are also bird species that you will see while on a boat ride at lake Ihema. While on the drive, you will also have a view of the beautiful landscapes around Akagera National Park.
You will after be transferred to the lodge and you check out before you are transferred to Kigali airport. On your way to Kigali airport, you will have a stop over at musanze caves for a 2 hours tour around these caves. These caves are a home to a large number of bats and you will be able to see them as you tour around. You will also get to know the historical details about musanze caves and thereafter you will be taken to Kigali airport for your flight.
