Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Depending on your location, you will be welcomed by our driver guide from either your hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport to start the journey to Kibale Forest National Park. On the way, you will enjoy stunning views of the scenery, landscape, Rwenzori peaks, a tea plantation, and a stopover for an en-route lunch. After lunch, you will continue to Kibale Forest National Park, and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 6 people, where each group will be assigned a habituated chimpanzee family to trek with and an experienced park guide. Trekking of chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located, because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

During trekking you will be able to view other primate species, mammals, and bird species, among others, and once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the habitat, which allows you to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, resting, and hunting, and to take photos and record videos.

After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch, whereafter you will go for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi wetland, where you will be able to spot different primates and bird species, among others. After the Bigodi swamp walk, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
