Day 1 : Pick up from Kigali to Tchegera island
At Kigali Airport, you will be picked by a guide who will talk to you briefly and give you details of the trip before transferring you to Goma in Congo. You will head to kituku port where you will get on a boat ride that will take you to Tchegera island. Once you get to Tchegera island, you will have lunch. You will be able to see a variety if birds while at this island and some of these birds include the two toothed barbet, African eagle, cormorants, osprey, kingfisher and many more. Apart from the birds, you will also get a glimpse at Mount nyamurangira and Mount Nyirangongo giving you the opportunity to see the largest lava lake.
At this island, you will spend the night at Tchegera island tented camp and you will also have your dinner from this place.
Day 2 : Boat trip from Tchegera Island and transfer to Kigali
On the last day of the safari, you will wake up, freshen up and have your breakfast at the island . You will embark on a nature walk around this place and you will get the opportunity to spot a number of bird species that stay at this island. You can as well decide to participate in paddle boarding and after carrying out all these activities, you will have your lunch and you will then link up with the guide who will transfer you on a boat ride back to Goma. The guide will then take you back to Kigali where you will catch your flight at Kigali Airport. If time is available, you will have a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural center for a cultural encounter and you will relate with the locals in this center and get information that you need from them. Once you are done, you will then proceed to the airport.
