Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: pickup and transfer to Samburu National Reserve.
Our driver guide will come to you in Nairobi to give you a safari briefing before leading you to Samburu National Reserve. Following your pick-up in Nairobi, you will need 6 to 7 hours for the drive to Samburu National Reserve. During the drive, you will spot Mount Kenya from the road while passing through local villages and admiring the natural scenery.
As soon as you reach the lodge for your stay, you will obtain your room and eat lunch before taking your first safari. During our game drive, you will have excellent opportunities to spot native animals like Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostriches. The vehicle returns you to the lodge for your dinner and night’s stay.
Day 2: Full day game drive in Samburu National Reserve
Before sunrise, you will go on a complete day game drive across multiple parts of the Samburu National Reserve to spot animals. You can spot multiple species: elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and all types of birds.
A picnic lunch awaits you, and you can admire the Ewaso Nyiro River scenery, which supports all the reserve wildlife. As the day continues, you will return from your game drive to the lodge, where dinner and overnight accommodation will be ready.
Day 3: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, afternoon exploration of the park
You will begin your day by having breakfast, then meeting your driver guide to transport you to Lake Nakuru National Park. The Great Rift Valley hosts this park. The drive lasts 5 to 6 hours over terrain which includes a lunch break.
After registering at the lodge, you can join an immediate afternoon wildlife expedition. Lake Nakuru draws tourists with its colourful flamingo colonies, plus its main animals, like rhinos and buffalo, together with giraffes and rare tree-climbing lions. Following the safari, you will come back to the lodge for dinner and lodging.
Day 4: Travel to Maasai Mara National Reserve.
You will leave the lodge for the Maasai Mara National Reserve after breakfast because the drive takes 5 to 6 hours. The road leads through the Great Rift Valley escarpment and gives you the chance to view traditional Maasai villages.
When you reach the lodge, you will get settled in, have lunch and unwind before embarking on your first game drive session. During your exploration, you can spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and antelopes. Your visit ends with dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge after the safari tour.
Day 5: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve
After your morning breakfast is done, you will embark on a complete day game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, famous for its wildlife in Africa. Your trip covers all regions of the reserve while you seek the Big Five together with other animals, including wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles.
During July to October trips, you can witness millions of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River to find better food sources. During your wilderness break, you will have lunch before starting another game drive. You will come back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night at the end of your late afternoon game drive.
Day 6: Cultural visit to a Maasai village and evening game drive
Once breakfast is done, you will tour a traditional Maasai village to discover local culture through up-close experiences with Maasai people. Interact with Maasai warriors as they teach you about their traditions, along with showing you their cattle-herding customs during this cultural exchange.
As part of the trip, you will return to the lodge both for lunch and relaxation. The late evening drive enables you to see wildlife once again during your visit to the reserve. After your safari tour, you will eat dinner and spend the night at your lodge.
Day 7: Morning game drive and transfer back to Nairobi
When your Kenya wildlife and cultural safari ends on day 7, you will set out for an early morning drive to observe wildlife and predators feeding at sunrise.
You will complete breakfast at the lodge before leaving for your journey back to Nairobi. Your driver guide will take you to Nairobi, where you can choose your final destination before your departure flight, or drop you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after having lunch on your stopover.
